last saturday

they say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. so rob and i decided to go to the globe where i had french toast with fresh strawberries, apples, oranges, and kiwis of all things. and rob had the famed biscuits and gravy which was almost as yummy as my french toast, but not quite. he had bottomless coffee, i had some oj, and a cinnamon roll was shared. good times.

and from there it was off to pike's place market where we hit up the produce stand on the corner and i squealed because the prices were so cheap. and i kept adding things to my bag until it was full to the brim. and it was only eleven bucks, which caused another squeal to escape while i bounced up and down like a little kid.

since i was already in super kid mode, it was appropriate that no less then ten minutes later a guy told me "you're the most excited person i've ever seen buy these. and the only adult." behold, my new cow galoshes:

my faboo moo shoes

they're fabulous, i know. *smiles*

next stop was a touristy seattle shirt shop where i almost bought a cheesy pair of socks that proclaimed "i love seattle!" because i do love seattle, and silly socks are cool. no doubt my cow galoshes would make them even cooler. *g* but yeah, i ended up protesting the socks; there were two umbrellas on each sock, but three suns, which i don't think really represents seattle you know? it should totally have been two suns (maybe even one) and three umbrellas. i'm just sayin'.

i did leave the shirt shop with something though. and no, it wasn't a keychain. i left with the knowledge of where to go to get a nifty and yet very practical beanie. (rob spotted an stylin' beanie on the head of mister super city dude, and i asked where he got it.) three blocks down he said, at the army navy surplus store. and so then off we went and the sky opened up and buckets of rain fell. and i was wearing a cute little crocheted beanie that looks awesome, but isn't very effective in keeping one's head dry, because you know, there are holes all over it. and the surplus store? yeah, five blocks away. so we arrive there soaked and buy beanies and socks and i get to skip around the store with a painted pink clothespin on my jacket. the people were really cool; one guy tried to convince us that beyonce came in and bought the same style beanie we were looking at. he'd only learned who she was that day. but when you work in a shop with bombers hanging from the ceiling, why the hell would you be interested in pop culture?

we leave dry, only to be soaked again in minutes. a perfect excuse to duck into a nearby bar. the sign "we be smoke free" on the door seals the deal for me. the virginia inn is a great little place. they have a nice beer selection and some damn good hard apple cider. it's the perfect environment for a three hour conversation, too. i would know. and if you're lucky, you might just get to see the guy wearing the "i love tacoma" shirt. what a great shirt! i want one. seriously.

i also want a device that will help me find my car when i forget what random downtown parking garage i left in it.

before arriving at home, we made a pit stop at walgreens to pick up some hair dye for rob. i also, thanks to a kind store clerk, learned the purpose of foundation. i'm so make-up handicap it hurts.

safeway was the best. you know those shopping carts that are also little vehicles for kiddies to be pushed around it? like fire trucks and stuff? yeah, those are So Much Fun! first i pushed rob around the store, he sat on top of course. then it was my turn to hop on up and be wheeled around. we made people smile; they remembered what it was like to be young and have fun and do goofy things. i'll have to take a picture next time.

rob's hair is black now. it looks sexy, i did such a good job. i was thinking about dying my hair, but eh. i would only want to go red because my hair is already brown, i have no desire to be blonde, and black totally makes me look like a goth girl. i did look good with purple and blue... but that feels like more of a summer thing to me. just like red feels fall. yeah. oh well. i'll just get another tattoo instead. *g*

this saturday

i went to a vegan meetup at hillside quickies and got to meet some new friends, and see some familiar faces again while chowing down on a big tofu burger. i could only finish half of it! i love talking in large groups... it's such an interesting dynamic.

rob and i went to see "miracle" a little later on. it was a good flick, worth checking out.

and now it's sunday...

i checked out the probowl on tv and was jazzed that the nfc won. a little weirded out by the half-time show though. i mean, i'm sure the nsync guy wouldn't have been any better... but one can only process so many hawaiian shirts at a time.

i just finished watching "american splendor" and now i'm wondering how many other people with my name are in the local phone book?

any thoughts? (0)
