it turns out that my former creative writing professor is some kind of demonic creature who goes around spewing falsehoods and lies. and let's just leave it at that, shall we?

aside from an incident this morning involving said demonic creature, i've had an absolutely lovely day! *smiles* the m's won their ball game, and i've been on a mission. a garage cleaning mission. and no, you're not experiencing dj vu. i mean another garage cleaning mission.

you see, it works like this: i go and clean the garage. i pack stuff in storage boxes, throw out trash, make goodwill piles, and so on. i make the garage sparkle, and leave it so that you can actually walk through it. and get to things. it's truly amazing.

but then, in a moment of excited stupidity, i'll tell my mom of my cleaning success, and then she shows up with boxes upon boxes of stuff. all kinds of... stuff. kitchen materials, keepsakes, cleaning supplies, linens, you name it. the only thing all the items have in common is that i don't want them. apparently my mom doesn't either, but to avoid disposing/sorting the items herself, she dumps them on me. gee thanks.

so the garage goes from clear to cluttered in about 60 seconds. and then the clutter breeds clutter and before you know it i'm doing the limbo to get to the washer and i'm using a machete to cut my way through the mess.

and then it reaches a point where i can't take it anymore. it's too much! plus, usually something motivates me, such as the case today - i need to make some room to store stuff that i would actually like to keep around. and as an aside, i'd like to build some cabinets and paint the place too.

so today marked day one of the Garage Beautification Project. i managed to convert five boxes of junk into a trash pile, three additional boxes into a goodwill pile, and two more boxes into a 'waiting to be packed away' pile. much progress! *smiles* tomorrow involves some laundry, possibly some carpet removal, and packing the items in the 'waiting to be packed away pile.'

i should take before and after pictures. but i'm too embarrassed. i don't want anyone to see what state the garage is in... hell no! i'm going to clean it up, ban my mom and her endless stash of boxes, and pretend it was pretty all along. *l*

so wow... i just realized that i've committed myself to painting three rooms in less than 15 days. i'm crazy. but it's not like that was ever in doubt. ha.

but i can do it. yeah. and clean the garage, too. because i'm a remodeling renovating diva. best recognize.

any thoughts? (1)
