today creative writing class got really heated. my teacher, as awesome as i think she is, is pushing her anti-war views and beliefs on the class. oy. half the class, most in the 18-19 year old range, join in with her cries. the other half however, is comprised of vets and like-minded people who get really pissed when folks don't recognize that the only reason they can speak their mind is because we've gone to war in the past.

it's frustrating, and sad, and dammit, i just wish everyone would shut up already. or at least think things through before voicing their opinion.

what good does marching around a park do? do people really think the government officials give a damn what a couple hundred people are chanting? no.

what makes me so angry is that hey - reality check protester person - there's a 90% chance we're going to war, like it or not. so instead of crying about it and screaming about your dislike of a man you've never met who is acting on reasons you're unaware... donate things to the people that will need them. soldiers need support in the form of books and magazines and gum and encouraging letters and such. the people of iraq will need food and blankets and medical supplies.

my question to protesters: how much did it cost you to make all those anti-war posters? whether it be $30 or $300, that money would have been better spent HELPING the people that you're screaming need to be saved.

and don't forget about the animals, already starving and deprived, that will be victims as well in this war. donate food, or money for food, and medicine and your time and why are people not realizing their time can be better spent?

i don't, as in do not, want to go to war. because i don't want people to die. i don't want suffering and pain and devastation. but something has to be done to control the damage. the anti-war ideals seem to me unrealistic. the alternatives seem scary.

but once more, my plea to the protesting public... don't demoralize our troops with your lack of support for what they're doing. please, don't do that. donate! time, money, supplies, anything you can think of. people will be needing it. and trust me, it will make a much bigger impact on the lives of people everywhere, than telling the newscasters you ``don't think this war is right.``

good for you! now get out there and do something about it.
