so i'm a big girl and realize that what i'm about to say could alienate quite a few folks out there. but, whatever.

i watched the living with michael jackson interview last night (in between csi, of course). i had no intention to watch it, but i caved in to peer pressure - i didn't want the world to be talking about it the day after and me sitting there going, ``huh? what happened?! teeeell meeeee!``

so anyway. i tune in, and within the first ten minutes i'd come to four solid conclusions:

1) barbara walters is a mean and spiteful bitch, but...

2) that martin bashir guy is even worse. total bastard if you ask me. does he feel proud of himself for making a grown man cry?

3) michael jackson IS a bit off. he's super eccentric and seems to have some serious emotional hang-ups...

4) however, i don't believe that he molests little kids. or big ones, either, for that matter.

i think bashir and barbara tried to paint a picture of scandal and wrongdoing, when really all that's going on is words taken out of context.

for instance, i would to sleep in the same bed with my mom sometimes when i was a little kid. i'd crawl into her bed with her sometimes just out of need for a hug, other times because i didn't want to sleep alone after watching a frightening movie. jacko was basically saying the same thing - but the vibe bashir and co. were sending out was laced with harmful intent.

if anything, i think the interview exposed bashir as a shady character looking to make it big on someone elses' misery and the misconceptions surrounding that.

jackson seems like a better father than most - i admire and respect him wanting to keep his children shielded from the public eye. he has them wear masks in public... so what?! unlike bashir, i don't find this to be harmful in anyway. i think it looks fun, and the kids certainly don't seem to have a problem with it - they're all smiles underneath. a father wanting to protect his children is not something that should be viewed as negative. children of superstars will never know what it is like to grow up ``normal``... the most their parents can do is protect them from ridicule and exposure.

and who the hell cares if he has or hasn't had more nose jobs than he cares to admit? there are numerous stars out there that have had obvious work done, yet deny it - and it's soon forgotten. but the poor guy has some unfortunate skin condition, and has had work done on his nose, and the media can't seem to let it rest. how much more satisfied would they be if he did ever say, ``yeah, i have had my cheeks done, oh, and my chin too.`` then what?

oy. enough about this from me. i just needed to get my two cents out there because rather than entertaining, i found the interview to be disgusting and disturbing - not for the role jackson played in it, but for the way bashir and barbara conducted themselves.

shame on 20/20 for sinking to a new all-time low.

any thoughts? (2)
