last night i had a dream that involved mike tyson.

he and i were friends, and he sent me a package of vegetarian cook books and pots and pans... so i went to visit him in prison, where i brought him his own package of videos, history books, and a santa hat. oh, and i brought him some kind of new cookie i'd learned how to make too.

... dreams like that scare me. i mean, how do you interpret that? i'm not even sure i want to know. *g*

so anyway.

today was the most exciting of days, as rob and i went to henry's marketplace and explored All That Is Wonderful. i've decided that i love and adore henry's marketplace, and from this day forward it shall be known as my favorite place to shop for all things yummy and delicious.

rob and i ended up at henry's marketplace because of our new eating habits. we've given up meat. cold turkey. (har har.)

you see, for the last two years i haven't eaten red meat. this was a personal decision based not on animal rights, but on health. and it has indeed made me feel better.

fast forward to last week, when i picked up my half-read copy of diet for a new america. rob decided he wanted to know what it was all about, and so we began reading it together. after page ten, the decision was final - we would no longer eat ANY meat. none whatsoever. for health reasons, and for animal rights.

admittedly, i think this will be harder for rob than for myself, as he's giving up poultry, seafood, AND red meat all in one shot.

but he's more committed to this than i've seen him committed to anything in all my years of knowing him, so i have faith that he'll be able to see this through.

as for myself, i think my hardest obstacle will be seafood. oh, how i love the taste of seafood. what i have to work on is just convincing myself that seafood = yuck. we'll see how successful i am with that.

now, as for cheese and dairy products in general, we're starting slow. picked up some soy dream milk and ice cream, and we're going to see how we like that. still not ready to make the leap to tofu cheese though.

and man! this is exciting, and so much fun! i hadn't quite realized the vast variety of foods (aside from fruits and veggies) available with no meat, dairy, etc. truly amazing.

and this introduction into the world of vegetarianism is made easy with the help of a friend of ours, katie, who is practically vegan. so she knows all the best things to eat. woo! (we'd probably be lost without her.)

so yeah. things are lookin`, smellin`, and tastin` good around here. *smiles*
