guess who got a speeding ticket this morning?!

not me! *g*

actually, it was rob. we were late leaving to school, so he went flying down the freeway, at oh, i'd say about 90mph.

and sensible jen said (word for word, i swear), ``we're already late, perhaps slowing down would be a good idea.``

my advice was not taken, obviously. mere moments later as i was looking up from my notes, i saw us fly by a police suv. to which i asked rob, ``is there a reason you just flew by that cop?``

and before he could register what had happened and finishing saying ``oh shit,`` we heard sirens.

[... a quick interjection here is needed. have you ever seen the movie super troopers? if not, go do so at the earliest possible convenience. it's a fun time.]

so anyway. officer hicks comes up and is talking to rob, and does the whole license, registration, proof of insurance deal.

while my attention is focused on this interaction, a second cop, officer carter, sneaks up to my side of the car and sticks his head in the window while asking me, ``does this car belong to you?``

it didn't startle me so much as it made me want to scream out ``super troopers!`` and burst into hysterical laughter.

looking back, i'm kind of glad i didn't do that. *g*

and yeah. it's kind of funny, but had we been doing a mere 10 miles less, we wouldn't have gotten a ticket. to quote officer hicks, ``we normally don't bust anyone for doing 80*. but 90!... not to mention, you just flew by us! you didn't leave us with much of a choice.``

(* 80 is normal flow of traffic out here in cali. it's true - we live life in the fast lane.)

so yeah. as unpleasant as a ticket may be, it actually didn't make the day sour. besides the fact that the officers spent a good ten minutes telling rob how to get out of the ticket (i kid you not), our teacher didn't take roll (which is a first), so us being a half-hour late didn't matter.

the glass was definitely half-full today, baby. *smiles*
