i was sent this site on a great dane list i'm a member of, as there are four female danes in dire need of rescue. when i went to that site, however, my heart went out to ALL of the dogs there.

i burst into tears when i realized that two of the dogs were schedule to be killed today.

$10. i could save all of those dogs and find homes for them for $110 bucks.

oh, except for the fact that i'm on the other side of the f'n country in california.

i hate feeling helpless like this.

and yes, i know dogs are needlessly killed everywhere, every day. right down the street from me in fact. and it kills me to know that. and no matter how much food or how many blankets and toys i donate, it's never enough. and at the shelters around here it's $35 a pop to get a dog out. and i'm not that rich.

if i were rich, i don't think i'd stay that way for very long. because i'd do things like fly 11 dogs from virginia to california and find wonderful homes for each and every one. and since i'd no doubt be doing this on a daily basis, i'd just end up poor again...

but that's not the point, dammit. the point is that this sucks. animals dying sucks. it breaks my heart. and...

i just wish i could save the world.
